When I was in the hospital for hernia surgery, I asked one nurse if she was from the upper midwest (because she sounded like Fargo characters to me). She said she's lived in northern Maine her whole. She must be a fan of the show. I should've asked that next, but they had an iv in me and I didn't want to test my luck.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019).

Image

Unwatchable. (Made it to 31min... to the end of the First Major Encounter.)

Boring visuals, bad foley effects, bad dialogue/script/characters, hackneyed action, lazy score. I hope Avatar 2 will suck this hard.

Watching Midsommar. Terrible. So bad. What a mess. Lots of dicks. That actually isn't even one of the problems with it. Whole lotta dicks in this movie tho.

Me too. I heard someone describe Midsommar like if the ending of Hereditary were made into a movie. But haven't seen it yet... was looking forward to it mostly bc same writer-director.

We liked Hereditary a lot.

Because if he doesn't get to release albums, they'll cast Ed Sheeran in more episodes of Game of Thrones and no one wants that.

Sorry to dig up ancient convo... I've been away for years, was browsing, and... this made me

I also only recently binged GoT (timed the free-trial sub for end of season 8), and whatever else they got wrong or pissed on, Ed Sheeran's existence takes the cake.

professor and the madman is based on the surgeon of crowthorne - well worth reading as well, as are his other books...

Wanting to use these movie passes on Midsommar, because I was so impressed with Hereditary... but Midsommar seems to get very polar responses... :dunno:

Yeah...I’m really looking forward to it anyway - I often enjoy films that are not received warmly universally. For example, anything by Shyamalan (except The Last Air Bender :tehe: ).

I look forward to it too, but probably DVD... I feel like it deserves full attention anyway.

Re: Shyamalan... The Happening too? (I need to rewatch that one, but I think I missed out on the suspense the first time.)

I've waged war gallantly defended Lady in the Water in this thread :mob: so... we are probably scattered and few.

Haven't seen Airbender... liked the Nikelodeon show too much. Trailer was enough.

Oh yes, The Happening too. Once you realise it’s deliberately acted like it’s a B movie, it becomes very enjoyable. The Lady in the Water is a great film.

There is no film called The Last Airbender by Shyamalan. Also, there are only two Terminator films, ever. All right, maybe three, at a stretch.

There's only one Alien, one Jaws, and 2 Terminators. Plus only one Star Wars trilogy. And only one Buddy The Woodchuck. Actually, wait a minute, there were 2 Buddy the Woodchucks. The famous one was number two.

I keep starting movies then forgetting to finish them. Smamalyan reminded me I'd started Lady in the Water. Now I can't remember if I gave up on it or forgot about it. I started Final Days of Planet Earth twice now. Part 1 is 2:41 long. I'm guessing I'll get an hour or so into it and give up on it. It's probably going to be stupid.
