Hopefully, robots will free humans from Amazon labour. The sooner the better.

They are not baubles. They are research prototypes. Whatever comes of them might just do to what's left of today's factory workers who have not yet lost their jobs to automation what the combine harvesters have done to agricultural workers in the past.

I'm astonished at how the physics of lifting and changing centre of gravity is expressed mechanically.

Quite the progress.

Indeed, looks like they are settling for now letting gravity do work. It needs more workspace than human-like models but it has wheels and longer reach. Neat.

I keep coming back to this thread to watch the video in the OP...the robot's weird rocking "abdomen" movement is quite something else....unsettling :smoke:

Of course our inhabitant of Cairns has no solution for the workers laid off due to automation. Just keep the baubles coming.

Any sane person does but of course the right wing have big problems with it. A UBI in America? They have problems enough with Universal Health Care but UBI is far too socialistic.

People without disposable income are not good customers. People without income are not customers. And hungry people take the streets. Right wing might be idiots but they know how to do business.

There is plenty of work in service, education, healthcare, and I dunno where. The only problem is .. where to get money for it? Back to the doing business.

There are plenty UBI models none of which would suit a corrupted right wing country.

So our inhabitant from Cairns could not care a fuck about people loosing their jobs when there is nothing in place to replace the loss of income? There are so many scumbag jobs around to replace them. Fascism by another name but our inhabitant from Cairns thinks that is fine so long as he gets his baubles.

Maybe our inhabitant from Cairns should learn simple socio-economics.

Where did Macdoc say or imply that he could not care a fuck about people loosing their jobs?

It is obvious in his attitude. He likes toys. He is a trinkets seller. Baubles fascinate him. What it to you anyway?

Could be phrased very differently.
Appreciates technology, sells technical solutions, is fascinated by IT and robotics related advances.

Liking toys, selling trinkets and a fascination with baubles = "not care a fuck about people loosing their jobs"? That's JamesT grade logic.
