Ooh a meet up? Sounds fun. I vote for Manchester as a good central point with excellent transport links. No, it's not where I live, I am being (a bit) diplomatic!

Birmingham would be OK, but I think it panders to the Southerners too much. It's only an hour and a half from London yet two and a half hours from most of Northern UK. And what about the Scots?

Yes, I think Manchester is a good idea!

Leeds? Has good links link Manchester and serves the North East, and all that dead area between Newcastle and Kings Lynn!

Yes Leeds isn't too far, I can cope with that. But Manchester is still my No1 preference!

Well there is a meeting being organised in Mancester as well at Ratz http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 25#p397125 although 'organising' might be too strong a term

Leeds is clearly the logical close as it lies within the heart of England (plus its in God's own county  ). Its easy to get to from most places, with direct links down to London and the South (via London or Manchester).

You see? This is where obsessive regionalism gets you! All this talk of meeting up in the land of Whippets and mushy peas is FUNDAMENTALLY anti-Unionist.

They are called the "Home counties" for a reason.

Here's a thought; Why not coincide the meet with the real ale festival, or the Notting Hill Carnival? Admittedly both are held in London, but it is our nation's capital

Edit: Great British Beer Festival, Earl's Court 3-7 August 2010, Notting Hill Carnival, 29-30 August
