Psychedelic/Spaced Out/Space Music Thread

#1  Postby Arnold Layne » Jan 26, 2016 9:46 am

I had a quick look round and couldn't see anything like this. I'm a bit bored of serious "debate" at the moment, so I thought I'd start a more light-hearted thread!

So, I've always been a keen listener to this sort of music since the mid-60's. I bet you'd never have guessed!

Anyway, I love the old stuff, but psych music has been made since then, and is still being made. I'm always up for hearing new things, so please feel free to post your favourites here. I'll not be a gatekeeper for what I believe fits into the right genre (withing reason) because there's so much overlap.

Anyway, I'll start with something very obvious. I never knew which was the best version, the studio one or the live version on Ummagumma, I love them both, but here is the studio version to kick us off.

Not really.

Not to say I don't like it, as it's my favourite Genesis album.

This is one of my fave albums....in it's entirety, as it's a concept album.

I have always found beauty and tranquillity in Gregorian Chant. I do not have be religious or accept a Sky Fairy to appreciate this mediaeval chanting.
I have NO BELIEF in the existence of a God or gods. I do not have to offer evidence nor do I have to determine absence of evidence because I do not ASSERT that a God does or does not or gods do or do not exist.

Sorry THWOTH! Mine was Ash Ra Tempel's "Flowers Must Die".

I always thought the Germans did psychedelic music the best. Though the Japanese gave them a good run for their money in the 90's:
