We'd have the Scottish regiments and supplies.

By the time they get to woad stock, they'll be half a million strong.

They sort of did. The planes intercepted by the Dutch would've been about as close as Russia could get to London without actually starting a war with several countries. 200 miles from Scotland there's a lot more open space to play in.

I know the British are hard up for forces but when is the Dutch air force all a sudden the RAF.

From Scarlett's link, that C's T was commenting on:

Dutch fighter jets were also dispatched on Wednesday when the two Russian planes entered their airspace.

A pair of Dutch F-16 jets intercepted the Tu-95s at about 4pm after they strayed half a mile into the country's territory.

But according to Sky it was the brave RAF that chased them off.

The only bravery involved is the Russian pilots flying those 60 year old aircraft

Almost antique. Nice though. The old double prop does it.

The Naval Ensign of Russia is the Scotish saltire on reverse.
More than enough for Russia to 'protect' Scotland from anyone.

No doubt they reserve the right to protect Russian speakers resident in Scotland. :smug:

*sigh*

Nowhere in the report is the word 'brave' mentioned. Dutch jets chased them out of Dutch airspace, RAF jets chased them out of UK airspace. It's not a fucking competition Scot. Not surprising that the headline of a UK news site is more concerned with the UK aspect

Scarlett wrote:Just as well they didn't want to nuke us eh? Considering the time it took to send help

Have you looked at the distribution of Russian nuclear weapons?

Do you really think the presence or lack of presence of a Russian ship 5 miles off your coast makes any difference at all in the ability of the Russians to nuke the shit out of your entire country if they decided they wanted to? And do you think the timeliness or lack thereof of naval intercept would make a difference at all?

The Russians have global-capable sub-launched ballistic missiles, and land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, both of which are utterly secure from your Navy's interventions around the world.

There may be many reasons to be concerned about the presence of a Russian warship in international waters near your coastline - but nuclear attack is not one of them.

I think I admitted already Weaver, that I'm a product of the 80's when we were all getting wound up about nuclear war :tehe:

I missed that. One of my earliest memories is watching the Berlin Wall fall on the tv.
