Byrd disavowed his KKK past, and his views on race evolved. So much so that when he died, the
NAACP issued a statement mourning his passing.
Well said.

True. He was, however, explicitly clear during the campaign that he did not endorse Donald Trump, as he expounded in unironically-titled article,
"The ZioMedia Lies: I Have Not Endorsed Donald Trump!". Again, this is not an ironic title, it is an unpleasant diatribe of bigoted idiocy penned by an unpleasant bigoted idiot. He repeats his position in
this interview for those who don't want to give his site traffic.
Trump was also explicitly clear that he
rejected any Duke endorsement that may have been given.
The whole kerfuffle appears to be that one interview where he gave a non-answer to the question of whether he would accept Duke's support. Then lied and said his earpiece wasn't working and he didn't hear the question properly despite using Duke's name in his answer.
The thing is, the whole Duke/KKK connection with Trump is based on that one interview, whereas Trump's public opposition to Duke goes back to
2000 when he cited Duke's (who he described as a "racist" and a "neo-Nazi") joining Ross Perot's Reform Party as among the reasons why he was withdrawing from the contest for that party's nomination.
This bullshit accusation
actually helps Trump. Because, when his supporters find out the claim that he is somehow connected to Duke is false (which anyone who even
attempts to fact-check it will do almost immediately), they become that much less likely to believe the bad stuff about him that is demonstrably
true.
The US is faced with four years of Trump. He has a Republican Senate, a Republican Congress and an open Supreme Court slot. Even if he's impeached, that just means you get President Pence.
This is serious fucking shit.
But by all means, harp on about the turnout at his inauguration (as if we didn't already know he was the most unpopular Presidential candidate ever to run). Keep making demonstrably false allegations of white supremacist links about a guy who sought and got more black and Latino support than the last Republican candidate. Keep trying to sabotage his ability to keep literally the
only sensible promise he made that he looked serious about.
Keep bullshitting, sneering and denigrating the people who voted for him.
All you'll get is two terms of the fucker.
