That sucks.
The number of people I know who have come down with it has jumped in the last couple of weeks.
Fortunately it seems to be mostly a case of a day of feeling rotten followed by a couple of days of sore throat and lethargy and then back to normal.
Even a non-vaxxed friend (dgms!) followed this path.

I hope that this is the case with your family.

Seems to be the case for the Mrs, but obviously watching the little'un with a bit more concern. We're both vaccinated, but he's still too young.

BA2 is only 18% of cases in Thailand so fingers crossed for you all that it's a brief version of BA1.
Would be interested in how symtoms play out, what triggered getting tested?
Any thoughts on where you were exposed. GWS

Mrs got a sore throat, so bought a test kit - this was 3 days ago. Son tested negative 2 days in a row despite getting a sore throat on the 2nd day, but then tested positive today. Both have had mild fevers and sore throats. Son's got headache, a little bit of nausea and tummy pains, but aside from taking a nap or two, is pretty energetic. Today, Mum's got a ticklish cough but generally seems to be on the mend. All in all, it looks like it's a few days or flu-like symptoms - at least for a fit and fully vaccinated adult. Hope it's the same for the little guy too! As for me, I am still fine, no symptoms developing, which is lucky as I am certainly the highest risk category in my house!

Exposure probably came about because we've been running a local street cat neutering push as there are so many cats here, and the cycle of suffering they experience just never ends. On Monday, my Mrs offered a local homeless guy a fee per caught cat, and the guy was more enthusiastic than experienced and got his hand savaged in the first attempted catch. Mrs then took him to the local clinic to get his battle scars tended, and I would have to guess that's where she picked it up. By and large, we've been pretty isolated for the last 2 years, but with cases rocketing here, it was only a matter of time. We're as prepared as we can be - just a shame it couldn't have happened in a few weeks as my son's due to get vaccinated on 7th March! :S

Thanks - always useful info and you have some added armour. Family here also with relatively mild ....more than a cold less than serious flu.
I'm still in avoidance mode. It's too hot to got out anyways, back to back 37C. Was 30 at 7 am. Good day to read in the ac room.

Cheers.

He's actually already recovered! Only took him a few days and he was fine. Big relief!

The first one works. Wow I didn't realize there are still that many daily deaths. Numbers apparently don't mean much to some people(ahem, conservatives) that's really high still. What a disaster this country is. At least here, one number I'm seizing on in Maine is hospitalizations are down 56%, a clear indication that our surge is slowed.

It's a very infectious beast - at least 30% more so than BA1, and jury still out on whether more dangerous. From the Japanese studies, BA2 goes deeper into the lungs than BA1 which means much harder on those with any sort of compromised breathing or immune system.
Total case numbers really aren't meaningful as it is so wide spread and even here mild cases are not being tracked anymore. It's both hospitalizations and deaths that need to be watched - if your case loads are dropping ...yay and deaths in particular not... :? Not so good

It's starting to come down. Hopefully it's just a lagging number as it usually takes more time to die than to recover. :(

wishful thinking in the US
That statement comes despite the fact that the rate of death is still elevated, with an average of nearly 1,700 people dying in the U.S. each day. On Wednesday, more than 2,100 deaths were reported across the country, according to a Reuters tally.

White House outlines plan for next phase of pandemic, with U.S. still averaging 1,700 COVID deaths per day
