I read that 72 inmates and 9 staff at a prison or jail tested positive. I don't know if those cases are counted with the 127/139 figure I saw yesterday. If so, it makes a big difference to the level of community spread outside of the prison. I feel bad for the people there, who have no choice and little ability to protect themselves. I know that a couple of counties let certain inmates out. That should have been a statewide thing. Conservatives will cry and blah blah blah, but what are they worried about, they have roomfuls of guns and weapons. There are people in jail who aren't an imminent danger to society, and limiting the amount of virus in any institution benefits the community at large. Plus, it's the humane thing to do.
University of Maine has been testing wastewater for fragments of the virus, and are now getting positive results in Orono, which could be an indicator of widespread community transmission and an omen for the near future. That's right next to Bangor where I have to go for doctors appointments the next couple of weeks. I have the right to put it off, but it's important. I'm not following up on the sniffles here.
