Yes, it's quite clear that you don't.

For the record it's the relevant figure to what you're talking about - the marginal difference between the 66% and 80% rates payable under the different schemes.

I don't really care about the other guff. But I will say, in memory of someone whose contributions I enjoyed that it's still not "bottom-line".

We've got 90 patients in hospital, 19 in intensive care in BC right now. Our healthcare system isn't overwhelmed but that's the direction we're going in. Halloween parties on Granville Street didn't help but small private gatherings are the primary means by which the virus is being transmitted. Businesses could stay open (while implementing physical distancing measures) if people would just maintain a "safe six". They won't though.

The first day of the Battle of the Somme, in northern France, was the bloodiest day in the history of the British Army and one of the most infamous days of World War One. On 1 July 1916, the British forces suffered 57,470 casualties, including 19,240 fatalities. They gained just three square miles of territory.

Fucksake.

Robert Jenrick on Sky news just now appeared to walk back PM’s commitment yesterday. Said 80% furlough to devolved nations in lockdown after December will be a decision for the chancellor to take at the time.

Nicola Sturgeon:
We need clarity on this urgently today. I’m sorry to say that @scotgov has no more detail now than we did before PM statement yesterday. Woolly words don’t pay people’s wages.

127 new cases found today, which is 24 more than the previous "record high" on Friday. Bangor Daily News reports 139, and their figures are usually higher than what's reported on World of Meters, for some reason. The entire state has 108 critical care beds available. It's not looking good. It would be nice to have a federal government.

Do you mean Maine-centric? We're doing relatively ok compared to the rest of the US, but the numbers are worrying and trending way way up. I'm continuing to save shelf-stable food in the event of a major outbreak. If none materializes, it's a good problem to have.

We're up to 92 people in hospital, 22 in intensive care with COVID-19 in BC. Thinking about cancelling my upcoming dental cleaning and haircut appointments. People are idiots.

Low. Canada has three provinces with "big" populations and BC is by far the smallest, which helped. It also has a younger population than Ontario or Quebec. The population is (in general) more outdoorsy and health and fitness oriented, which is believed to have benefitted us. We also don't have the issue of snowbirds which contributed substantially to Ontario and Quebec's COVID-19 numbers last spring. BC got through until July pretty unscathed. Then people started gathering for summer holidays and the shit hit the fan.

The level of compliance with stuff like reduced capacity in restaurants and mask-wearing in spaces where physical distancing isn't possible is pretty high. It's small social gatherings that are the issue. Now people are gathering indoors and we've gone from 3 test-positive cases per day to 20 to 100 to now 300 test-positive cases a day. We have the expected outbreaks in long-term care facilities and Halloween parties didn't help but most infections originated at small private gatherings.

I read that 72 inmates and 9 staff at a prison or jail tested positive. I don't know if those cases are counted with the 127/139 figure I saw yesterday. If so, it makes a big difference to the level of community spread outside of the prison. I feel bad for the people there, who have no choice and little ability to protect themselves. I know that a couple of counties let certain inmates out. That should have been a statewide thing. Conservatives will cry and blah blah blah, but what are they worried about, they have roomfuls of guns and weapons. There are people in jail who aren't an imminent danger to society, and limiting the amount of virus in any institution benefits the community at large. Plus, it's the humane thing to do.
University of Maine has been testing wastewater for fragments of the virus, and are now getting positive results in Orono, which could be an indicator of widespread community transmission and an omen for the near future. That's right next to Bangor where I have to go for doctors appointments the next couple of weeks. I have the right to put it off, but it's important. I'm not following up on the sniffles here.

I don't even think we got that far and look at the result. Well there was limited restaurant seating opened in some parts of the state. Obviously the restauarant owners and patrons cheated on the rules a little, from what little I saw. The poor poor bars and wine tasting has been put on hold.Who's bright idea was it to reopen schools? Oh, right. The drunken sailor at the head of the federal government that's doing nothing to help anyone reopen anything. <----rant included.

The government emergency outbreak team advised to close senior high schools, but apparently our ministers dind't care since they closed everything yesterday, except schools, gyms and shops.
What's even worse is that they're excusing these for-appearance-sake restrictions so we can open things up a little sooner.
Because that should be the priority, to open the country back up asap. :sigh:
