No country in the world I know of has this, pensions in 2060, figured out and every proposal of "pension reform" I have seen includes rising retirement age as one of mechanisms.

IMO the age itself is irrelevant, what is relevant is hmm productive age.

It is a false assumption that if one lives longer then the mental and physical faculties will be extended pro rata. Decline in one's faculties will occur, very largely, according to one's genetic make-up regardless of medical and dietary advances that keeps one alive for longer.

The false assumption is that this has anything to do with making people work longer.
It has to do with reducing pensions. Thus should you stop working before 70, your pension will be decreased.

We've been there before and since I assume we just amuse ourselves now let me quote a classic:

As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master.

I edited my pre-previous post as the fucking .. anyway:

Living longer and prospering?

Designing an adequate, sustainable and equitable UK state pension system

Raising retirement ages
Increasing the economic contribution of older
workers is an important measure for European
and UK governments to consider, given the
potential higher levels of educational and
health status of successive future cohorts.
This is particularly the case in those European
countries where early retirement rates are
high. However the effects of enhanced
workforce participation to age 65 will be
realised by 2025, and further extensions to
age 70 or older would then be required[17].

How can I argue against Schoenmaeckers and Kotowska? Or rather does anyone want to?

If you really want to debate it seriously allow me to suggest starting new thread. I do not like to do that or rather I will not do that.

I wanted to say because I can but I cant so ..

Not to worry, I never thought for a moment you'd actually want to debate something seriously.

That is wrong. That refers to the latter not the former, that would not make sense :P

If 70 is adopted, we could be unique in the world. Why?

Could be but I can tell you that over here the debate is similar. Maybe others will have to re-valuate? Only to predict how our society will look like in 50 years from now is tricky. We can ask economists or experts in technologies or sociology. In my view the age debate is only part of broader debate. Its not the only tool to implement in future systems. Who knows the future?
