That's what I thought, thought it was the same over here. Though maybe a term my grandfather would have used in his heyday.

Don't like the word woman because it's go the word man in it. Don't like the word female because it's got the word male in it. Don't like the word girl because it's condescending to grownups. Don't like the word lady because it carries moral (and frequently inaccurate) overtones.

Well not for me, but I'm just one. What's wrong with 1 partner each? Some people don't swing the way you do.

I think one partner each is the best option available and that's what I want for me too and am aiming for; it's just that such relationships seem to fail all the time these days so clearly something(s) are wrong still.

It was ever thus. Every relationship anyone has ever had has failed, except for the one they're in right now, and sometimes that's debatable. The difference is it's not frowned upon to do sex with people you're not married to now, and it's easier to walk away from a relationship as opposed to a marriage...and it's now much easier to walk away from a marriage too.

Incidentally, I just meant that rather than '1 bird each', you could have phrased it '1 partner each', to make it more inclusive.

Yes that would perhaps have been better - at the time I was thinking I could only talk about the male position because women are a complete enigma to me but maybe we're not so different eh fal.

I think that I'm no more likely to align myself with someone just because they are the same gender as me than I am to align myself with someone who has the same hair colour as me. Or to put it another way, you and I, for example, would have enough in common in a myriad of other areas for us to be able to say we're not really that different. Gender is a bit of a red herring for me. Do I have more in common with the Queen than I do with you? I'd say not.

I relate to and esteem the philosophy you hold that it is the mind which is important and not the rest of the biology when it comes to similarity. It's really all that matters IMO although I really only fancy biological ladies so there is that facet. I have to say that the player hating I've been harping on about has all come from males...but then again I think it likely that foolish ladies player hate on each other too in the same way.

Having said that I do remember an incident circa 12 years ago when my then girlfriend shouted at me, angry, because I kept correcting (IMO - she never disagreed with me IIRC but it was a long time ago) her on her opinions/knowledge and she felt belittled/intellectually inferior...something like that...and I guess that's the same thing as same sex player hating so it does probably happen between the sexes sometimes too IMO.

What does belittling and treating a loved one like shit have to do with player hating? Does player hating even mean anything specific to you at all?

Yeah it means when people get angry and kick off/hate because they feel inferior/their ego feels threatened/their self-esteem feels threatened. I never deliberately belittle - that's not my objective, just keeping it real and speaking the truth as I see it. Comprehend?

Sure, but just because you never deliberately belittle doesn't mean you aren't belittling. It isn't the remit of the other person to just put up with you belittling them because it isn't your intention, it's your job to become aware of when you're belittling someone and knock it off. It isn't that they've got a big ego and are just getting angry for internal reasons.

Can you define the word belittling SAM? I haven't looked it up, but I'm curious what it means to you and I think it might shed some light on the topic.

Making someone feel less about themselves, often by making yourself seem superior. In this situation, you'd be belittling your girlfriend by constantly correcting her, which makes her feel stupid, and makes you seem like you think you're so much smarter.
