He says. Dr Who storylines and preplanning for the Timelady has been infected by SJWs and millennials. That male antagonists in some episodes have been derided and belittled for being male ("a man?! Erk, how do u cope with all that ego and testosterone?" is one example given), and that the mirror of this would simply not be allowed these days. That the running down of males appears to have been done with intent by SJWs or the BBC who have licence fee payers money to run with and will not care for the ruination of Dr Who, so long as they get this role reversal out there.

Not that the show, and The Doctor, are irreverent and skewer pomposity wherever they see it, and also have a habit of leaning heavily to the liberal, freethinking and sticking up for the underdog when no one else will and is kind of the definition of what a social justice warrior should be. It's not like he could have missed the entire point of the show is it?

The thing with Cullen and his ilk is that there's a certain ridiculousness in attempting to "stick it to the man" while simultaneously making sure no men are harmed. It only works if you start from the assumption that men are in fact losers, an odd perspective which is probably a bit more revealing than he'd like.

So, are we not talking about the pile of crap that aired on Sunday? I might dust off the fanfiction I wrote at 14 if that is the fucking standard.

I liked it.

I am not interested anymore, the scripts have been poor for some few years now. I'm not overawed with this new direction either, but let's not go there again lol

Well I thought it was pretty fucking awesome, from the suspense and confusion at the unknown at the beginning, a hyperactive Doctor making her own new sonic with Sheffield steel, and the inevitable confrontation where it's revealed how actually the Doctor was two steps ahead and the alien must get off the planet.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

I've always thought Doctor Who was terrible. I doubt having a female Doctor will make it any more or less terrible. If that helps.

How are any of these negative recent comments relevant to a topic about spoilers?

The topic is about Doctor Who in general. The [SPOILERS] bit refers to the fact that people who are not caught up, should realize they might be spoiled on details or story-lines they haven't reached yet. As opposed to a thread with [No Spoilers], which asks participants to hide such details with spoiler tags.

Ok. I hadn't sussed the spoilers bit correctly, then.

Yep. I like her.
If this series turns out to be successful, I wonder if they will alternate the regenerations between male & female?

What would be the point?
Could you tell the difference just by looking at a screen?

I hope not, that would be wasting 50% of the talent each time.
just take whoever casts as most „doctory“.

and I hope they give her more than the standard three seasons, they can’t keep burning through regenerations like they did.

Not really. The "doctoriness" of the doctor is independent of gender. That this has only just been directly observed by the earth audience is incidental. :smoke: :coffee: :smug:
