Yes, she recently married a tennis player. I also find it interesting that she was homeschooled.

How would you have voted in Sheldon's poll?

Just (finally) finished watching The Shield. Pretty powerful stuff right at the last episode. A fitting end.

Our satellite channel showed the first part of the GOT catch-up show. I can't wait now. I want to see the new season. Now!!!

That was a good finale. A great pilot too. Not the most realistic show, but very entertaining. I wish they did more of the strike team and less of everybody else.

I'm loving 'A Very British Renaissance'
We think of the Renaissance as something that happened only in Italy, or in continental Europe. Art historian Dr James Fox believes otherwise - that Britain had its own Renaissance - one that easily measures up to the explosion of art and ideas that happened on the continent.

He tells the story of the painters, sculptors, poets, playwrights, composers, inventors, explorers, craftsmen and scientists who revolutionised the way we saw the world.

In the first episode, he traces the story of how the arrival of a handful of foreign artists in the 16th century sparked a cultural revolution in Britain.

I was saying to Mrs Slash when the first group arrived at Terminus:

Soylent green is people, people!

Anyhoo, a pleasant surprise in Dead Like Me on Netflix. Only ran for two seasons, but spotted Mandy Patinkin in the promo shot, and he's usually good, so thought I'd give it a go, even though my perception prior to watching was that it was a show for teens. Well, I was wrong about that? Shame it didn't run longer.

Anyome watched The Wire? The pilot doesn't seem very good.

I've heard very good things about it. A lot of shows take time to get into, as early episodes need to work hard on character development. It's hard to get into the foreground if you don't connect with the characters.

Me too, heard good things about it. Maybe I'll try to finish it and watch the next episode to see what it's like.

This whole drama around Slade revealing Oliver's secrets in Arrow makes exactly zero sense in any logically consistent way.

From what I've heard about The Wire each season has different characters and stories. It looks at the whole War on Drugs from the ground up with each season covering a different aspect. So for instance it starts off on the streets, then takes it to the DEA, then into the politics and even a season on the media and their involvement (the writer is an ex-New York Times journalist I believe).

Guys, I'm staying away from the GoT thread for a reason. I've only watched the first two seasons because Mrs Slash has fallen behind. No spoilers in this thread please.
