hackenslash wrote:Really enjoying the second season of Endeavour. For those not aware, this is a prequel to Inspector Morse, an old favourite. Set in the 60s ('66 in the case of this season), great atmosphere, unglossed and straightforward detective fiction of the highest class.
Brilliant.
Keep an eye out for an upcoming new show, Prey, with John Simm. Looks like one of those blue moon stand-out shows.
Preview and info here.

Past the episode where that Claymore-turned-fiend slays the first 4 Claymores, decapitating Teresa...etc.
Woah I'm still a bit shaky. This is FUCKING BRUTAL...even GAME OF THRONES' red wedding got nothing on this. Okay, maybe...
I mean, they fucking censor stuff like dismemberment in Bleach and other animes, so I wonder if they had actually censored some things in this, but I doubt it. This is NUTS!!!

It is like Shingeki no Kyojin. The anime seems intense, but the manga is incredibly more intense.
Claymore is an awesome series though.

I am watching the Oscar trial all day, which is pretty exciting, well interesting anyway, stuff. That's possibly why fictional cop dramas don't work for me anymore. I miss Boston legal and House, and really good mini series.
The Returned opens in a small mountain community which is rocked to its core when several local people who are presumed dead suddenly re-appear at their homes. Despite having passed away some years earlier, these ghostly characters appear in human form, they have not aged, and they are completely unaware of their own fatality. Determined to reclaim their lives and start over, they slowly come to realize that they are not the only ones to have been brought back from the dead. Their return augers torment for their community when a series of gruesome murders bear a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past. This is a homecoming like no other.

I just watched the first episode of The Returned (Les revenants), a French supernatural mini series:

It's really intriguing, I will definitely check out the next episodes. Here's a link, with English subtitles:

We had that on TV here a few months back. I watched the first few episodes but then kept forgetting to tune in each week. I wish I had stuck with it.

You should definitely have a look at Inspector Morse. You can tell that they weren't written for TV. They're all based on novels, and Colin Dexter is a cracking writer, with great depth of character. They're pretty faithful to the books as well, except in the books Morse is a complete lech.
The spin-offs, Lewis and Endeavour, have been really cleverly written to mirror the style of the original books, and for me they've succeeded.
