That's quite a shock. I used to watch Coronation Street - a long time ago. When I did watch it, Deirdre Barlow (AK) was as well-known in Britain as anyone else you'd care to mention, then or now. Such was the popularity of 'Corrie' at that time.

What caused her death? The link doesn't say.

Yea, she was a character in most peoples lives in the U.K.. Back in the 90s 'Deirdre Barlow' went too prison. People where petitioning Tony Blair to get her out.

As for her death, I'm guessing cancer.

Canadian figure skater and painter. He won the 1971–1976 Canadian national championships, the 1974 World bronze medal and the 1976 Olympic bronze medal. Despite never winning at the World Figure Skating Championships due to his poor compulsory figures, he won the small medal for free skating at the 1972 and 1974 championships. Cranston is credited by many with having brought a new level of artistry to men's figure skating.

[Tangerine Dream]

Demis Roussos, the Greek pop and rock singer who became an unlikely international star in the 1970s and 80s, famed for his soaring, high-pitched voice, and voluminous kaftans, has died aged 69.

The bearded singer starteed his career in the pioneering Greek progressive rock band Aphrodite’s Child alongside another future star, Vangelis, who later composed the film scores for Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner.
