Perhaps for once the Muslims have got the right idea - almost. They say people have "reverted" to Islam because they claim that all humans have always been born Muslims. Absurd, of course, but the term could be applied correctly to people turning back to the absence of religion, the state in which they really were born.

Dead people aren't atheists. Trees aren't atheists. And little children aren't atheists, either.

Dead bodies, trees, and babies, all lack theism, and are therefore a-theistic in terms of their religious position.

You could say that they do not have a theistic stance, that they do not have anything at all to do with religion, and that thinking of them in those terms is ridiculous, and you would be right, but that line of thinking still supports the position that they lack theism, and are therefore not theistic, completely without theism, and therefore atheist.

In the same way, a vacuum cannot hold a septic component, so a vacuum is by nature aseptic, no matter how silly that may sound it remains true.
