Yes, that it "seems" that way to you and others, is indeed the problem.

Others sadly are always the problem in politics, as much I would like to get rid of a lot of others they sadly tend to hang around :)

ronmcd wrote:Corbyn is being attacked by Jewish groups who dislike his campaigning for Palestinians, by the right wing newspapers, and well known human rights and anti racism campaigners like ... Guido Fawkes. Ha ha. But seriously.

This is the genetic fallacy. Corbyn has also been criticised by numerous Jews (including a large number who marched), by the thousands of members leaving the party and by leading figures in momentum. Quoting Owen Jones (willing to go on TV and lie about a photoshopped hat, but not to consider the issues) probably isn't wise if the going standard is attacking the messenger and ignoring the message.

When the best he can do in that context is attend a Jewish group who has some views that are pretty far from the mainstream, that are largely coincident with his, that's still a real problem. This is supposed to be him doing his best to respond to a crisis of his own making.

Here's an example from This Week:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b ... -29032018#
(Robert Winston starts at around 7:20 and Aaron Bastani at around 10:00)
Robert Winston and Aaron Bastani are hardly right wingers or anti Corbyn.

It still doesn't appear to have the least thing to do with this thread though.

It's a bit like saying you aren't homophobic and then going to a christian group which 'helps' gay people not be gay people.

It's doesnt automatically make you homophobic but its not the best way to win friends in the gay community.

Corbyn isn't anti-Semitic through he seems to be plenty of people of the far left who are, he is incompetent

Hey, mrjonno, good news! This geopolitical analysis says London will survive Brexit just fine.

All of this puts London in a comfortable negotiating position. If in the course of Brexit talks the EU makes it difficult for its companies to conduct business with London, the British government could simply alter its tax laws to make it worth their while to remain in London. And then, free from the constraints of EU bureaucracy, London could reach out to Commonwealth nations for more than celebrations of shared cultural values and instead explore a wide range of partnerships that are currently blocked by regulations in Brussels....

...

The more daunting challenge emanating from across the channel is the reactivation of great power politics. The most disastrous periods in London’s history have come when Great Britain did not have the power to repel foreign invaders. Ironically, the U.K.’s decision to leave the EU underscores a far bigger threat to London than international banks leaving the city or tough German negotiating tactics: the attendant conflicts and rivalries that have delegitimized the European Union, like forcing austerity upon Greece or Brussels-mandated refugee quotas. The EU is a heroic delusion – heroic because it has kept the continent from ripping itself apart for generations, and delusional because it believes this battle is already won.

What a load of bollocks. Altering tax laws will not make a blind bit of difference. EU services will be done within the EU.
This is a Brexit super dream: reaching out to the Commonwealth.
Once again Americans cant understand. IT IS NOT GERMANY NEGOTIATING BUT THE EU. As for the rest. Greece is not in austerity. 75% of the Greeks want to stay in the EU. How is it delegitimised? More American wet dreams about the EU collapsing?

Remember to change your bed in the morning you will need it thinking like this.

So, according to the article Warren posted, all the UK government has to do to remain unaffected is to slash its own revenue.

To be honest, I think the main risk to the UK from Brexit is the apparent limited competence of its negotiating team.

We have been saying that from the beginning but the problem was always the UK had little to negotiate with.
