settleforbiden.org/ (tongue-in-cheek, but not a total parody)
Overall concept is pretty clever. I can tell it's not 100% neolibs behind it, bc that species has no detectable sense of humor. Some of the Instagram humor is a little too earnest, though... must be the Warren contingent.

Great photo choices. Perfect juxtaposition.

The problem with being in the generation that had to learn how the Web works as adults: many of them, however privileged, find that the learning is lifelong. Unless they grift for a living.

Anywhoo... :this: rich white lady sure as fuck speaks for me. You fucking grifter.

On a related note: the People's Party is a real thing. Maybe we'll start reconsidering this neoliberal dystopia motif, from the ground up.

If you click on the spoilered pic the context should clarify what the shitfight is about.

Failing that, this article spells it out for you.

Basically, Soledad O'Brien is having her arse handed to her by Sarandon.

 I would've guessed you were being sarcastic about my long-winded posts.

Idk why it still shocks me that O'Brien's level of bs passes for serious (or clever) political commentary... but this is how empty and broken the political thinking in this country is. She obviously thinks her point is well-taken. And if anyone spells out her bs, there's no repercussion to her as a journalist or communicator. She doesn't have to respond or explain her stance. She has advisors to steer her personal brand, and that's all that matters to her. She's the embodiment of the thing that will destroy the world (ie, not fascists with WMD's, but fully-formed neoliberal cyborgs that eat babies and level mountains).

I'm amazed also at how gracious Sarandon's reply is. Granted, it's to point out the embarrassing inadequacies of the Biden election machinery, and even includes a TL;DR at the end because American attention spans are embarrassing.

It's almost enough to forgive the Italian in Lorenzo's Oil (I keed, I keed...)

The world needs more Triumph the insult dog. :)
I also didn't initially understand the post. I didn't know who Soledad O'brien or Ryan Knight are, or why Soledad O'brien wrote that in response to what she quoted. Was Sarandon referring specifically to people of color? If not, O'brien's comment is irrelevant.

Ah! I'm in the loop now. Yes, I should've mentioned Ryan Knight is an organizer for the new party that's forming next year - although Sarandon's tweet-reply opens with all that info, so I hadn't even thought to type it up.

And yes, Triumph for prez, imo.

I may find the People Party initiative laudable, but the other two are so entrenched that I'm afraid it's not likely to succeed.

Actually, all it needs to do is persist & have a presence in every state - that's success. Voters tend to have a misconception about what "success" means because all they pay attention to is presidential elections. But the real political change in this country happens between the school boards and the state governorships. The president is just one dot on the ballot.

The idea is to have a presence in state legislatures and in Congress - that's where the lasting power is. That's also the way to leverage legislative votes when it comes time to pass bills. The people at the top don't have a reason to bend until we give it to them.

This was in the back of my mind when the Axios story showed up. I'd like to flesh it out more, but here's a summary...

CLS Strategies is a DC firm whose job is to interfere in democracies abroad. Was seminal in propagandizing for the christo-fascist, white supremacist "interim" government in Bolivia after it ousted the democratically elected Morales almost a year ago (having done similarly for the right-wing coup government in Honduras after its US-trained, -armed, and -funded takeover there in 2009). Actively promoted Guaido's embarrassing takeover attempt in Venezuela. And was least successful against AMLO in Mexico. Facebook removed their accounts from its platform a few days ago, and apparently a Stanford computer lab has exclusive access to their activity logs.

CLS Strategies execs have close ties to the US government, to the Dem party, and to Biden. Because of course.

More gross details when I have the time & patience.

I can't tell if this is in reference to "people" = "Americans", or if it's a joke about previous parties with roughly the same name... :P

If it's the former... I'm pretty sure their platform is internationalist, ie it extends the same philosophy of rights to all people. So it contrasts itself to the longstanding Dem & Repub yen for obscene military spending & imperialistic foreign policy.

"American People's Popular Front" obviously, and not the "People's Popular Front of America" since they are a bunch of splitters.

I just came to coment on that, that someone commented "Karen Unchained" Wouldn't it be cool if someone like her was the nominee? Maybe in grumpy old man form, who screams everything at the top of his lungs in a New York accent.

The idea of her bread-ticket dying spooked her. So she took a break from intoning the existential threat he poses, to get people to wish him a "speedy and complete" recovery. Encapsulates the mainline Dem ethos, that is until the rubes who consume this kaka snap out of it (someday, maybe too late).
