Oh I wouldn't be too upset. Not just to have Trump gone but also to see Mike "I'm not allowed to be alone with any woman other than my wife" Pence have to deal with Pelosi.

If he is then it would be beyond a pipe dream to think Senate Republicans would move to remove both from office. There is literally no scenario in which I can imagine that happening.

***ETA***
ok I did just think of 1 scenario. If Trump were removed from office and then Pence pulled off a mask Scooby Doo style revealing his true identity to having been Hilary Clinton all along. In that scenario I could see the Senate voting to remove both president and vice president making Nancy Pelosi POTUS.

Ronan Farrow has commented on Twitter that he has additional sources that contradict Buzzfeed's reporting such that the orange führer didn't order Cohen to lie.

Now that would be very interesting. Pelosi is third in line. Has it ever happened before that the Pres and VicePres have been impeached?

Not in the US. If Pence is culpable in this, he should be removed first, so he can't pardon the Trumps and others involved in this. In a perfect world he would be removed first, but of course, reality exists.

he can‘t pardon them till they are convicted, right?

Very close to it, but Nixon had time to name Ford who could then pardon him.

I don't know. I thought Nixon was pardoned without being convicted.

The impeachment never got past committee to full house and senate.
With impeachment by the House and removal by the Senate all but certain, on the night of August 8, 1974, Nixon took to the airwaves and delivered an address in which he announced his decision to resign the following morning. At 11:35 AM EST on August 9, 1974, Nixon officially became the first, and so far only, president to resign.

but accepting a pardon means accepting guilt, doesn’t it?
anyone think Trump would do that?

Pence might have the integrity to resign, but Trump might just hang on till he’s impeached.

I don't think Pence has any integrity either, unfortunately.

From my understanding a US presidential pardon can occur before or after a conviction.

Yes and Yes. Trump will just spin and lie about it to his base and his base wouldn't even know or care what accepting a pardon means. The rats will follow the piper anywhere. He could shoot someone on 5th avenue.

Trump has already pardonned guilty people. I don't think he cares about guilty or not guilty, even for him.

Trump proposal failed before he gave it. All it really gave him is and excuse to tell his base: it's in the Democrats' court now!
