I think it could signal a turnover in 2018. If the Presidential election in 2016 was marked by Republican anger and Democratic complacency; 2017-18 Is marked by the opposite. The Republicans have grown fat on too much winning. Anger is the better motivator.

I'd think it shows at least that Trump's non-stick coating isn't transferable and his mere endorsement shouldn't be considered enough to get an otherwise egregious candidate through an election campaign.

I'd be surprised if it affects his ability to indulge in atrocious behaviour and get away with it though. I often get the impression that a lot of his supporters want him to do just that.
