Red Dead 2 is the most frustrating game I’ve ever played. The lack of options and ending just drive me nuts. I played through twice and the whole thing just pisses me off.

No way would I play that game a second time. I did get to the end, but honestly it felt like a huge slog. I basically dropped my pad and never went back to explore or side quest or anything. I don't think I've ever done that with an open world game before, either I play on and finish up or I never get that far, something I did with GTA IV.

I slightly regret it. I enjoyed chapter 6, I think it was, which was the climax of the story. Mostly I played out of nostalgia for RDR 1.

I just ordered a PS4. Figured it might be something to do during coronavirus. I've ordered The Last of Us and Fallout 4. Any other recommendations?

Nioh 2, which I'm playing right now. DOOM Eternal out next week looks the biz.

Always was interested in Nioh, never got around to it. And Nier:Automata, but never got around to either for some reason.

Nioh is sadistic. It makes Dark Souls feel like a walk in the park.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't need any more games straight away, but I'll definitely have a look at some of those later.

Nioh 2 is giving me that feeling I haven't had since Dark Souls. The pure heart-pounding adrenaline buzz of defeating a tough boss. Hell even the mino-bosses. It's far more aggressive than DS. It's harder to keep a distance and find some breathing room when the fight comes to you.

Bliss.

DOOM Eternal to unlock at midnight in 51 mins. Thought I was too old to get excited about a game but it seems not.

Taking a hard look at the new Doom. Trailers are way cool.

After just one level of DOOM Eternal I can say my bloodlust is well and truly sated.

I think I'll wait for it to be cheaper. Did you play the previous one, because that's one sale now?

I've just started Fallout 4 and I can just say you can tell it's the same people as Skyrim. Kinda like that crossed with Half Life at the start. Having said that, I've always hated games where you have to shoot fast moving small insect things.

I also started playing PES2020, which is great given that there's not going to be any football for a while.

I've been meaning to try the previous Doom title, only shooters aren't really my thing. I barely liked Borderlands due to the over the top humour and easy mode that's available.

I did play the previous one. It's brilliant. One of the best shooters out there.

That said, my succinct review of the new one is this - It's DOOM 2016 x 2. In every way.

I just noticed the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot is currently selling for free (100% discount) on Steam, if anyone hasn't played it. I remember thinking it was really good, so might be worth grabbing.

Doom Eternal is out of this world.

Yesterday I was highly frustrated about the new combat experience. There were so many new abilities I had to learn, about cycling through weapons, using weapon mods, what enemies to target with which weapons, when to use chainsaw or flamethrower. I felt like combat had been ruined and it was a frustrating experience to play in the higher difficulties.

Then I went to bed, woke up this morning and continued the campaign where I left off. Totally different experience the next day. It was like the brain just needed to process what I had learned the day before and I've been feeling the combat experience has been extremely intense and engaging without being frustrating.

On other notes, the sound and graphics is unbelievable. The artwork, the weapon sounds, the music. All top notch. It is in every way a worthy successor to Doom 2016. The level design, story, music, artwork and so on is just a step up, which shouldn't even have been possible.
