Seems like that latter is more important - Some of my favourite films involve bad philosophy or bad lifestyle advice. I'm not sure Fight Club is really spot on with its anti-consumerism for example, but it's still an awesome film.

Perhaps there's a way to make a drinking game out of it.

What a royal turd of a movie.
It looks more like a pilot episode for a series with all the different subplots and characters constantly interrupting the main story.
And then the apologetics and atheist straw-manning.
Not to mention the conversion of dying people, twice, in this film.

At least I learned one thing.If I want to adress a group of people I shouldn't say you, I should y'all. Because according to the infinite wisdom of the duck dynasty that's better and simpler.

If I get fatally wounded in a car accident I sincerely hope I will not have some jackass priest come up and try and convert me by telling God guided him there to do so and made my death non-instant so I could convert.

An interesting report on a screening of the movie (Fair warning: it's from PZ Myers):

Yesterday, I attended a discussion led by a philosophy professor after a matinee showing of God’s Not Dead. It was a strangely skewed group: about half the attendees were local pastors or wives of pastors. Also, not to my surprise, most of them didn’t care for the movie. It was too over the top, it paid short shrift to serious theology, some of the scenes (especially the death scene) made them uncomfortable and wasn’t true to how Christians actually respond to death. So that was good. Of course, I had to point out that the caricatures of atheists were also unrepresentative.

One guy wandered in with a bunch of tracts and books and announced that he wanted to talk about creation and how the earth was young and recited a bunch of creationist cliches — he got booed out of the room, and looked dismayed that ministers weren’t accepting his conclusions....

I always loved "Hercules the Legendary Journeys" and it was kind of depressing to realize that Kevin Sorbo in real life is a fundamentalist and, if anything can be discerned from his choice to be involved in this movie, a very angry one. A clear case of needing to distinguish the actor from the character. The movie seems to invoke the standard canards. "Atheists are angry at "God" because there couldn't be any legitimate reason to not believe such as, oh, lack of any evidence. Which, speaking of Greek myth, makes me wonder why I hate Zeus so much. At any rate, the pro-religion arguments are stock circular arguments.

Reading reviews, even some Christians and pro-religious types have criticized the movie for having an undercurrent of such anger and hatred. As one reviewer said, the professor is a classic strawman atheist who cannot confront even the most circular religious arguments that any real philosophy professor should be able to refute within seconds after patiently waiting for the religious student to finish his predictabe strawman arguments.

I recently subscribed to Sorbo's Facebook page because I always liked "Hercules". I knew he had become religious but I had no idea what a fanatical and small-minded little hate monger he has become.

They did a "Hercules" episode in which Hercules was just pretending to be an actor named Kevin Sorbo in order to tell the world the "real" story of Hercules and of Iolaus. Now, the movie I would love to see would be called "The gods are not dead" in which Hercules, still pretending to be this Kevin Sorbo guy, tries to tell people Zeus is still alive and possibly seducing your wife in the other room. Now THAT would be a fun movie.

I wonder who the first atheist will be to write a rebuttal to all the nonsense and post it to writer, director and actors. lol
