Now, the one American comedy series I really am into it, maybe because it relates to my geekiness and nerdiness, is The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon rules!!!!

My exact point of view !

And The IT Crowd is quit good too, but english I'm afraid...

I find British comedies much more to my liking. And have heard good things about the IT crowd. Will try it at some point.

It was British produced, was filmed in front of a live studio audience in Britain and was first shown on British TV. But everything else was Irish dammit! :lay:
Actually most of the outdoor scenes were shot in and around my hometown. Do you remember they had the carnival with the 'freak pointing'? Just up by the harbour.
Or when they had a disco and the DJ kept playing the only song he had (Ghost Town by The Specials)? My local community centre.
And when Father Jack had a flashback of his old days teaching in Catholic school on sports day telling the young ones as it was such a warm day they could take off their tops? Filmed in my school with girls taken from my class.

(that last one was of particular interest as it was on the very first episode. None of the girls, including my best friend's sister, knew what it was).

There's your trivia for today :smug:

Dunno. That was filmed in the Burren.

By the way, the field - Now a housing estate.
That community centre - Now has an extension on the front.
The old PE hall where the scene with the girls was filmed - Demolished to make a new hall.
Those girls - All in their 30s now.

Yes. I'm familiar with all of those scenes, I laugh just hearing about them again. That's awesome that they were filmed so close.

More importanlty, did any of them remove their tops :tehe:

I find that so typical of American comedy shows. Conflict abounds.

Just tried the first couple of episodes.
It's crass, racist, tasteless, sexist and generally quite low.

It's fucking hilarious.

This:

TRAILER

Though filmed in NZ has mainly US cast. It's got Bruce "The Chin" Campbell, is witty and smokin Angela Marie Dotchin is in it :D

Very funny to me and I don't even find Saturday Night Live funny. If I had posted Home Improvement, Life According to Jim, Family Ties or something like that, then I would understand your "typical American non-humour" comment.

Well I think just shows how humour is very different from country to country even in the Anglo-Saxon world it differs greatly.

I find personally American humour tends to be a one way street with no great variance. Dutch humour is totally different from Flemmish and German humour even though we are a small country. What is laughed at in Amsterdam does not make it in Maastricht.

With such a general statement your bound to cover everything to some degree but there are always exceptions. If you have access to Hulu check out more than one episode of 30 Rock to see if fulfills your take on American comedy. There may be a lot of references you don't get simply because of the cultural differences.

I've been meaning to watch Archer, heard good things about it.

Since the geographic restriction has been lifted, everone needs to watch all of Trailer Park Boys, right now.

Stop it stop it stop it!!!!!!!!!

Ireland is in the British Isles, so it's British in the same way Canadians are Americans, geographically.
