I've recently been watching the Onion clips on YouTube. That's the sort of comedy I like.

I find personally American humour tends to be a one way street with no great variance.

With such a general statement your bound to cover everything to some degree but there are always exceptions. If you have access to Hulu check out more than one episode of 30 Rock to see if fulfills your take on American comedy. There may be a lot of references you don't get simply because of the cultural differences.

A lot of American comedy seems to rely on confruntationism. Who shouts the loudest that kind of thing. Nothing really subtle.
Sorry not my cup of tea.

By the way, the field - Now a housing estate.
That community centre - Now has an extension on the front.
The old PE hall where the scene with the girls was filmed - Demolished to make a new hall.
Those girls - All in their 30s now.

Just tried the first couple of episodes.
It's crass, racist, tasteless, sexist and generally quite low.

It's fucking hilarious.

Archer is based on a true story.
