That doesn't apply in Ireland really. We're a welfare state with free healthcare. There's no hypocrisy to call the No side out on, on that score at least.

I notice the latter are very queit right now. A repeat of their silence on the SSM referendum, it's like they suspect a hostile people will do the opposite out of spite. Also, inevitably, someone's gonna point out the obvious with regards their track record on protecting children and humiliate them.

That and polls suggest a Yes win.

We'll see though. Polls don't predict turn out and as it's such an emotive topic for No they will be out in force. Complacency could go against it.

Interesting. Rush (my hometown) Tidy Towns have request that both sides keep the town poster-free for the referendum.

And going by the comments it has come with approval, "...especially the graphic ones which unsuitable for children's eyes."

Hmm... No prizes for guessing which side that was, but they obviously took the diplomatic route and banned them all.

This is exactly why the Catholic Church can never dictate morals to the Irish people ever again.

I've been following this with some interest, via a twitter friend who's deeply embedded in the campaign.

I'm pretty hopeful it will be repealed.

I am worried that the because the pro-life fuckers are running the same sort of appeal to emotion, bullshit campaign that UKIP did for Brexit, they'll be gaining more traction than they deserve and the vote will be closer than it has any right to be.

Meh. Most people I'm talking to or have viewed on Facebook are disgusted by the No campaign's shameless tactics. A lot of towns are banning posters from both sides, not wanting to look like they're taking sides, on their main streets, because of disturbing and unsuitable imagery. But there's only one side doing that.

Yeah, blatant negative campaigning like that is just going to drive the undecided voters over to the opposition. Stick to the high ground, and I think you've got this in the bag.

If we're to compare it to Brexit, the problem there was the "Shy No" voters who weren't picked up in the polls. There's nothing in the least bit shy about the No campaign in this case, so I don't think you have to worry too much.

I think there's going to be far more shy Yes votes than No.

The above pic shows the No side stooping to try stir up near dead (in the Republic) anti-British sentiment. It's pathetic.

My bigger worry is still Yes getting complacent. Hatred is just a greater motivator and the Nos will vote.

The No campaign hires people behind Trump's online campaign and Brexit campaign.

That's it. The No campaign have just given up any kind of moral argument they might have had by resorting to paid-for liars and deceivers.

The No vote are really falling out of favour. Lots of criticism for putting up disgusting and disturbing posters right outside schools and so forth. Their misleading Facebook ads being torn apart for misrepresenting etc.

47% in favour. 28 against. 20 unsure.

Good sign. Especially if the unsure translate to no shows.

You'll know it's all over when the bishops start distancing themselves from the No campaign.
