Personally, I've been seeing (hi everyone) a lot of overreach on the part of people like MSNBC. Jumping far too quickly from "stuff that happened on 1/6" to "stuff that was obviously planned by Trump". There's been far too much Wile E Coyote shit from Trump's opponents. Again and again it's been, "We got him! We got him!"
Only to discover that you don't got him.
The 1/6 Committee has so far done a great job of patiently working their way up chains of command. They have already established that Trump had no good reason to believe that "The Steal" was real. That immediately destroys the rationale for the pseudo-legal part of the coup.
Now it needs to be established what the nature of Trump's connection to groups like the Oath Keepers actually was. Was there direct communication? Was there anything like an order given? The evidence that comes out is going to determine whether this was a case of criminal negligence, criminal recklessness, criminal conspiracy or (my bet) some combination of all three.
But that web needs to be untangled before charges are laid.
