There seems to have been an intelligence briefing back in march to the affect of Russian troops attempting to place bounties on US troops with Afghans.
Doesn't sound like 'strong on military' to me.

The weakness in the system of checks and balances has been exposed now since Bush the lesser was in office. Trump is just taking advantage of it.
