I'm also today, at the behest of my mother, looking to figure out where my Auntie over in New Mexico is getting her nutty ideas about vaccines and ivermectin from. She's not on FeckBook or Twitter, doesn't watch Fux News etc, if anything she has a left bias but perhaps too far left. She's somehow Russian Orthodox so tends to believe the Kremlin line on anything. I'm told these days she predominantly gets her news from a site called moonoveralabama.org. I was not familiar with it, I did a skim of the recent articles there. Other than some curiousities like doubts about that Belarus airliner situation and a possibly China-apologist slant I didn't see any obvious red flags. So, still scratching my head for now.

Oh and that website I looked at, I didn't go far enough, SO found an article in January decrying Biden labeling the Jan6 insurrectionists terrorists. Follow a few links and one leads to a site called hang the censors[?!], one that trots out the Antifa canards.

I appreciate this is a very tenuous link with regards to this thread's topic, but I feel so many of these problems are intertwined with the advent of the internet and the way online companies make money.
The rejection of vaccinations, all the conspiracy drooling around Covid, the reaction of right-wing politicians particularly in the U.S., I fear these are all being fueled by our interactions on the internet. It exploits something in our minds, and while the intent is to exploit it for profit, the consequences are much further reaching.
But there's no real reason to blame Facebook in particular - they're just the most successful of these companies. It's US who are the real problem; it's humans we need to fix, not Facebook.
Whistleblower Frances Haugen has told MPs Facebook is "unquestionably making hate worse", as they consider what new rules to impose on big social networks.
Ms Haugen was talking to the Online Safety Bill committee in London.
She said Facebook safety teams were under-resourced, and "Facebook has been unwilling to accept even little slivers of profit being sacrificed for safety".

I got a Moderna booster yesterday after the initial J&J in April. My arm is very sore, and I have some fatigue and malaise. Nothing as bad as my reaction to the J&J where I was bed-ridden.
