Watch Dogs isn't even out yet and it's already reduced in price on Steam.
Wtf?

Most games are, when on pre-order or on release day.

But why?
It looks really silly, like they underestimated the value of their product or something...

Discounts is what Steam does, I guess, and everyone else just seems to follow that lead.

A pre-order discount is pretty much meant as a "Hey thanks for giving us the money early, as a reward you don't have to pay as much as someone who buys after the game is out.".

And related:

So Ubisoft offered me a £200 tablet at a Watch Dogs preview event

I went to see Watch Dogs in Paris recently. I can't tell you anything about that yet for embargo reasons, but thanks to the Force of Revelation that is PCGamesN's Steve Hogarty, I can tell you about the "asset stick" I was handed before we boarded the train to the venue. It's an Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet - leading man Aiden Pearce's "favourite" tablet, supposedly - which now sells for about £200 brand new. Also in the accompanying Watch Dogs-branded napsack: a bottle of mineral water, a leather tablet case and a box of Smints. I'll admit to keeping and eating the Smints. OK, I've drunk the water too. I'm only human, you monsters.

I don't like how they keep changing both the main character and the enemy.
First the blight is the be all, end all enemy, only to be vitrually abandoned in DA 2 and not it's the fade.
You never hear anything of the Warden, even if he survived in 2 and now it seems the hero of Kirkwall has also left the scene.

:P

Was that the whole party at the end!! Lots of femmes there! 8-)

And this is the first time I heard the back-story of the player character. A sole survivor from a disaster, relating to the Fade.

Reminds of Monster Hunter Tri gamestyle. More about avoiding damage than just dps'ing through it.

Wtf?

Steam sales encourage people to buy stuff they probably wouldn't buy otherwise. Since it's digital download there is no problem of having to ship a large amount of stock with the associated costs.

Activision commits $500m to Destiny game

[snip]

With Destiny, Activision hopes to emulate the success of the well-known Grand Theft Auto game. The latest version- GTAV - sold more than 32 million units.

However, said analysts, the GTA's long history and its dedicated fanbase contributed to its huge success. Neither of those would apply to a new title such as Destiny.

"Over time, Activision's Destiny could hit large numbers but there's no way they would come close to Grand Theft Auto," said analyst Mike Hickey from the Benchmark Company.

Lets say 100 people work on it and they make $200 000 (?) per year ~ $20 000 000 per year x 5 years ~ $100m. How could it cost $500m? Anyone with insight on structure of cost of making such games?

Licensing fees for any third party software assets, marketing costs, distribution costs, building and maintaining the servers for online play(or renting them from somewhere), keeping the computers and networks the game itself is being designed on running... Lots of shit.

Sent from my phone, somehow.
