Republican Watch

People who say "Democrats are as bad as Republicans" are almost as bad as Republicans.

For discussion of politics, and what's going on in the world today.

That's the one. He was no closer to Guadalajara than he was to Huixtla  Guess that's what happens when you don't have time to check your xenophobic hand-wringing before broadcasting it.

Huixtla is a lot closer to Guatemala, so that may be it. I wouldn't know how to pronounce that either, but like you say, if I was broadcasting to millions of people I'd learn how to pronounce it beforehand. He'll forever live in infamy, and "wa-hala" will always be there to haunt him. I'll do my part to remind everyone.

Anyone notice Matt Gaetz's hair styles have gotten...noticeable lately?

I think he's trying to copy Trump, as if a bad hair-do will help him on the next ballot. More unintentional humor, which Republicans have mastered in the Trump era.

Quelle surprise. The all-knowing Q missed naming actual child exploiters by a country mile.

I was just coming to post that yet another GOP US rep has died of Covid. Texas Rep Ron Wright. You know, it's almost like Trump was wrong about like everything when he said he has a knack for these things because his uncle taught at MIT. And all the other things he did to undermine the response to this. I'm guessing Rep. Wright knew the dangers of Covid but had to pretend there was no danger in meeting in close proximity with others who were pretending maskless contact was all well and good. It's all China's fault? More blood and phlegm on GOP's germ-laden hands.

Republicans, to the surprise of no one, fell over themselves over the weekend trying to blame Democrats and bleating about 'moving on'. Rand Paul and Ron Johnson were particularly odious. Did Ron really blame Nancy Pelosi for instigating the riot, you know, the one that appeared to include unhinged loons prepared to assassinate her?

Is Ron Johnson a pedophile? I don’t know, but I’m suspicious.

That’s how this works, right Ron?

Al Franken, who is usually pretty tame about his former colleagues, mentioned that Ron Johnson isn't very smart, after saying that Cruz and Hawley are. That sounds believable.

So far it seems clear that they'll be majority pro-insurrection due to idiocy, cowardice or even malevolence in some cases. That autocrat-in-waiting Hawley was probably beating himself off quietly up in the gallery.
Do they still not get that they factually, emphatically cannot count on loyalty in return from the mango maniac? Can they not see what an utter self-serving sociopath he is? Seems we'd have better luck training a baboon to write speeches.

Vandals spray-painted "traitor" at Trump's lawyer's driveway. Said the traitor of the incident "My entire family, my business, my law firm are under siege right now."
So AOC feared she would be killed when an angry, violent right-wing mob burst into the capitol chanting "hang Mike Pence" and she was being overdramatic. Someone spray paints the end of a right-winger's driveway, and protest outside of his office, and he's under siege.
Talk about melting snowflakes.

He could have stood there, declared he was Judy Garland, done a strip-tease and then skipped out the Senate chamber and they'd have still let his scumbag client off though.

The best move would've been to claim Trump should be let off the hook because his representation was so bad.
