I don't get the eye roll.

Do you think votes from rural communities with low populations are not as important other areas?

counting out votes before the last polling station has closed would be grounds to contest the election in this country.

In France, in addition to that, polls are forbidden for 2 weeks before the election.

Are you seriously suggesting 8 votes from a population of 300 million is indicative of anything? That's a sample size so small even psychologists would be aghast!

Counting is one thing, but announcing the results early has a known effect on voter turnout.

We'll see. Record registration here in Utah, with most of us having already voted by mail. I cast my vote over a week ago. We're also expecting record turnout at our physical polling places. You can get Wester than Utah, but I'm pretty sure the blue States have good reason to get out the vote this year. ;)

 it's just six hours and they could at least wait till all the polling stations in that state are closed.

I'm hoping voter suppression/election fraud doesn't tip this election.

I've been following Greg Palast for a few years now, and unfortunately many still see this as conspiracy theory.

I can't support that claim. But that was the expectation. Let's just make that another item on our "we'll see" list. :shifty:

Salt Lake Tribune wrote:In Utah, more than 534,500 people had already cast their ballots as of Monday morning, and at least that many are expected to do so Tuesday. It could be a crush that overwhelms the voting system, which had counted on more ballots being mailed in by now.

Well if they expectation is for a million people to have mailed in on Tuesday, that's still a respectable 3rd of the UTAH population. Utah's turnout in 2012 was 56% of the population so, going by what the SLT has said, more than half the population who voted in 2012 will have voted by mail today.

Which seems like a reasonable basis to say "most."

I parse the article as treating mail-in voters and people voting on Tuesday as distinct categories, making me wrong. But I appreciate your effort to make me right.
